NatureSoft achieves SEI-CMMI Level 4

Introduction:

NatureSoft has reached a key milestone in its engineering capabilities by conforming to the SEI-CMMI Level 4 standard, as per the assessment completed on 14th September 2004. With a vision to be a leading provider of quality software development outsourcing services, NatureSoft has consistently strived to better itself year after year.

The journey to SEI-CMMI Level 4 began in October 2002. The certification by KPMG / LRQA for Process compliance as per ISO 9000:2000 in the year 2000/2003 laid the foundation to the SEI-CMMI initiative. The Engineering Process Group (EPG) setup in mid 2002 took up continuous process improvement, to ensure the fruition of SEI-CMMI initiative.

NatureSoft was assessed at Quantitatively Managed Level (Maturity Level Rating 4)during the SCAMPI Class A Appraisal conducted at site. The appraisal was based on the staged representation of the SEI-CMMI ver 1.1 SW and the onsite period was conducted between 6th and 14th September 2004. The scope of the appraisal was for Software Engineering using Microsoft technologies, Open Source and Open Standards across cross-functional domains (Content Management, Insurance, Banking and Construction). The SCAMPI Appraisal was conducted by R. Ramamurthy, SEI authorized Lead Assessor from KPMG.

The SEI-CMMI assessment exercise involved nearly 34% of the staff, with the assessment process spread over a 3 month period. The assessment preparation itself started around 8 months earlier, and 66% of the ongoing projects were taken for assessment.

NatureSoft has demonstrated consistency in performance maturity as is evident from, key performance parameters such as
· Schedule variance (brought down from 11% to 6 %),
· Effort variance, (brought down from 31% to 16%),
· Residual Defect Density (brought down from 0.13 to 0.06 Defects per FFP)
in the last 24 months of this conscious exercise.
